Wawa is now open in the Southwest Orange County area.

Wawa opened its first store in 1964 and now offers almost 1,000 locations.

The convenience store hosted a grand opening at The Town Center at O-Town West Thursday, June 22.

The new location can be found at 7785 Palm Parkway near White Castle and Portillo's.

During the ceremony, the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Orange County Fire Rescue competed in a "Hoagies for Heroes" hoagie-building competition, where Wawa presented each department's charity with a check for $1,000.

The first 100 customers through the door also obtained a free prize, and visitors were able to take a picture with Wawa's mascot Wally Goose.

For more information on the store, call (407) 378-3787.
