Orange County District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson is hosting a back-to-school hygiene and backpack donation drive.

From Wednesday, July 1, through Friday, July 10, Horizon West residents will be able to donate backpacks, shampoo, wet wipes, deodorant, body wash, feminine products, hand sanitizer and toothpaste at the front entrance of Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, located at 7011 Kiran Patel Drive, Winter Garden.

Donations also can be made through Wednesday, July 8, at the following locations:

  • Maxey Community Center, 830 Klondike Ave., Winter Garden
  • Oakland Nature Preserve, 747 Machete Trail, Oakland
  • Windermere Branch Library, 530 Main St., Windermere
  • Winter Garden Branch Library, 805 E. Plant St., Winter Garden
  • Southwest Branch Library, 7255 Della Drive, Orlando
  • Hunters Creek HOA, 14101 Town Loop Blvd., Orlando

All donations will benefit children and families in our communities.

"Access to basic necessities should never be a privilege," Wilson said. "With inflation and rising financial challenges affecting so many families, even small contributions can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can support local students with confidence and dignity as they head back to school."
