OCPS sets up memorial fund for deceased Ocoee Middle student

Eighth-grader Almonord Francois was struck and killed while riding his bicycle home from school Feb. 16.

The Foundation for OCPS has set up a memorial fund for Almonord Francois, the Ocoee Middle School eighth-grader who was stuck by a vehicle and killed as he was riding his bicycle home from school Thursday, Feb. 16.

To make a donation online, visit bit.ly/3YnSf8q. To give by check, make it payable to Foundation for OCPS, write “Almonord Francois Memorial” in the memo section and mail it to the Foundation for OCPS, 445 W. Amelia St., Orlando, FL 32801. All contributions will be distributed directly to the family so are not considered tax-deductible.

Almonord’s family had just moved to Ocoee from Haiti, and he had been an Ocoee Middle Cardinal for one month. According to OCPS, he was enjoying school and learning a new language and making new friends.

The Francois family is experiencing a financial crisis because of this tragedy and can use the assistance planning his funeral and expenses incurred because of the accident, according to OCPS.
