WOHS graduate with autism wins gold at the 2023 Special Olympics Swimming Championships

Victor Wright swam in the meet hosted Saturday, Oct. 7, and Sunday, Oct. 8, in Vero Beach.

A West Orange High School graduate with autism recently won a gold medal at the 2023 Special Olympics Swimming Championships.

Victor Wright swam in the meet hosted Saturday, Oct. 7, and Sunday, Oct. 8, in Vero Beach.

Wright beat out his other opponents by six seconds, according to his father Henry Wright.

Victor Wright was the first student coming from Special Olympics and being on the autism spectrum to make the swim team and letter in swimming.
