The First Academy, Windermere baseball to play for region championships

After two wins each, the Royals, in Class 2A, and the Wolverines, in 7A, are playing for region championships as the last remaining area baseball teams.

The last two remaining West Orange and Southwest Orange County baseball teams across the seven FHSAA classifications have advanced to the regional championship round. 

The First Academy, in Class 2A, beat Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, 6-0, in regional quarterfinals, narrowly got past Santa Fe Catholic, 1-0, in regional semifinals, and now will play at Lakeland Christian on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the 2A, Region 2 championship game for a chance to reach the state final four. 

In 7A, Windermere High beat Olympia High, 6-1, in the regional quarterfinals before topping Palm Harbor University High, 3-0, in the regional semifinals. Windermere travels to Venice High for the Region 2 championship on Monday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m.
