BREAKING: Man dies in roundabout crash at shopping plaza

FHP reports state the driver failed to negotiate the roundabout and ended up submerged in a retention pond.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at about 11:16 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores plaza in Southwest Orange.

According to FHP reports, a 52-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon eastbound on LBV Factory Stores Drive approaching the roundabout at Poinciana Boulevard. The driver failed to negotiate the roundabout and collided with the raised curb. This impact caused the vehicle to become airborne, land in a retention pond and become fully submerged in water.

The driver was transported to Celebration Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There is currently roadblock within the roundabout. The crash remains under investigation.
