Horizon High School social studies teacher William Loggans is allowed to put back up a poster of Charlie Kirk in his classroom after meeting with administration to resolve the matter.
This comes after Loggans filed a grievance with Orange County Public Schools after he was told to remove the poster from his classroom after a student filed a complaint.
The district said Loggans originally was asked to remove the poster with a quote from Kirk after the quote was described as "motivational," which could be interpreted as partisan under district policy governing classroom displays.
The Kirk poster stated, "Never underestimate the power of your voice and the impact you can have on the world when you speak up for what you believe in."
The district said Loggans clarified during the meeting that his intent was to "use the poster to support instruction aligned with the state curriculum and the significance of the Bill of Rights to the American legal system and elements of constitutionalism."
The discussion served as a chance for the district to clarify policy guidelines and "ensure a shared understanding of expectations."
"The situation has been resolved, and the school remains committed to maintaining a respectful, neutral learning environment for all students," the district said.
