Ocoee readies for America 250 Celebration

The city will host its Fourth of July and America 250 Celebration from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Bill Breeze Park, 125 North Lakeshore Drive.

The city of Ocoee will commemorate America 250 with a packed event Saturday.

The city will host its Fourth of July and America 250 Celebration from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Bill Breeze Park, 125 North Lakeshore Drive.

The event will feature live music from The Gerry Williams Band, as well as games, rides and food trucks. There also will be recreations (6, 7 and 8 p.m.) of Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride down Lakeshore Drive. 

Attendees also will enjoy the Declaration of Independence signing station. Get your own copy signed on-site by founding fathers Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

Visit the Adams-Onís Treaty Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution vendor booth and meet America’s Second First Lady Abigail Adams, brought to life by Marcea Oetting, who travels throughout the state with her historical performances.

The event will culminate with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. over Starke Lake.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
5 p.m.: Gerry Williams Band

5:45 p.m.: Welcome by Mayor Rusty Johnson; national anthem by trumpet player Christian Finley

6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.: “The British are coming!” Watch history come to life as Paul Revere goes on his midnight ride down Lakeshore Drive.
