Vehicle-pedestrian crash turns fatal in Winter Garden

The Winter Garden Police Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash Thursday, May 28. 

According to WGPD, at approximately 8:46 p.m., a 2021 GMC Sierra was traveling on East Story Road and made a turn onto South Dillard Street, striking a pedestrian who was crossing South Dillard Street within the marked crosswalk on the south side of the intersection. 

When Winter Garden Fire Department arrived on scene, firefighters immediately began providing medical treatment and transporting the pedestrian to Orlando Health - Health Central Hospital, but was pronounced dead en route.  

The pedestrian was identified as David Jimenez, 41. 

The Winter Garden Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit responded to conduct an investigation, which now is ongoing. 

WGPD said the driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was fully cooperative with investigators.
