Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is hosting two special events this month to help those in need.

"Shoe the World Day" will take place on Tuesday, March 15, where the community can donate shoes to benefit neighbors across Central Florida.

"The day sheds light on the importance of and need for quality footwear for millions of people worldwide who can't afford or don't have access to it," Goodwill said.

The donations will allow the nonprofit to provide low-cost goods to the community, while also providing resources and jobs to locals.

Revenue generated through the sale of the donated items will fund the organization’s job placement and training services, as well as its vocational rehabilitation program.

Anyone interested in donating gently used shoes and sneakers can do so at their local Goodwill store or Donation Xpress Center.

The "Drop and Shop" event, which is held to thank donors who support the organization’s mission year-round, is also coming up on Saturday, March 19.

During the event, community members who make a donation at their local retail store or Donation Xpress Center will receive a 10% off coupon to use during their next visit.

Donations of shoes, jeans, women’s tops, summer wear, household linens and small appliance are strongly encouraged.

Those who wish to learn more or participate can find their nearest Goodwill location here.
