Six local wrestlers advance to state

Wrestlers from West Orange, Olympia, Ocoee and Dr. Phillips took to the matt against a host of opponents on Friday and Saturday in the FHSAA Class 3A, Region 1 meet with invitations to the FHSAA State Finals this coming weekend on the line.

The top four placers in each weight class advanced on to the state meet and six area grapplers were among them (two wrestlers each from Ocoee and Dr. Phillips, one each from West Orange and Olympia).

Dylan Meeks, of Dr. Phillips, was the lone regional champion from the coverage area, wrestling at 220 lbs.

Olympia's Tyler Ingle placed fourth at 152 lbs., Ocoee's George Schanck placed fourth at 170 lbs., West Orange's Chris Briscoe placed fourth at 182 lbs., Ocoee's Jules Joseph placed third at 195 lbs. and Dr. Phillips' Tajh Glemaud placed third at 285 lbs.
