WINTER GARDEN  Both the boys and girls soccer teams at SunRidge Middle School have punched a ticket to the Orange County Public Schools Middle School Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at West Orange High School.

The boys team for the Eagles won a game in penalty kicks over Lake Nona Middle School on Oct. 21 to advance.

"We played really hard and when it came to penalty kicks I think we all were a little nervous," eighth grader Noah Lewis said. "You've just got to be calm and think you're going to make it — even if you're nervous."

The girls team picked up an exciting 1-0 victory over Bridgewater Middle School, also on Oct. 21.

"We were really excited because last year we didn't make it to the finals; we lost in the semifinals," explained eighth grader Cristina Roque.

Both teams are excited to play in the championship games on Tuesday and also to be able to play on the turf field at Raymond Screws Field in front of a stadium full of people.

"I'm really excited because there's going to be lots of people there to cheer us on," Roque said.
