OCOEE  Before Ocoee city commissioners meet at 7:15 p.m. May 17 at City Hall, another meeting will be in progress across the street at Ocoee Lakeshore Center.

Renaissance Charter School at Crown Point (formerly Westyn Bay) officials will host an enrollment information session at 6 p.m. at 125 N. Lakeshore Drive, Ocoee.

As noted in conditions of the commission approving the charter school, it will begin with grades kindergarten to six enrolled, adding seventh and eighth grades as original sixth-graders progress. The school will open for the 2016-17 school year on West Road, just east of the Fountains West shopping center.

Officials plan to have another information session June 7 at the same time of day and place, as well as a Meet the Principal event at 6 p.m. May 31 at Ocoee Lakeshore Center, featuring Brett Taylor. More information is at WestynBayCharter.org.

As for the commission meeting, Florida Department of Transportation personnel will update the city on its State Road 50 widening project, consisting of virtually the entire stretch of West Colonial Drive in Ocoee.

The only action item not listed in the commission's consent agenda is a public hearing on dissolving Arden Park Community Development District.
