Principal Guy Swenson surprised Valedictorian Deesha Desai with the news that of the 19 valedictorians in Orange County Public Schools this year, she had the highest GPA.
Olympia High School said farewell to its class of 2016 in a graduation ceremony Thursday, May 27, at the CFE Arena, located on the University of Central Florida’s campus. The ceremony started at 7 p.m., as about 660 seniors filed in to take their seats and prepare to walk across the stage. Special guests included District 4 School Board Member Pam Gould, State Senator Geraldine Thompson, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn and Area Superintendent Bridget Williams.
Additionally, three students — Michelle Hayworth, Stephanie van Dijk and Rachel Parker — performed their renditions of the National Anthem, “I Hope You Dance” and “I Was Here,” respectively.
