OARS boats shine at Nationals

Windermere-based Orlando Area Rowing Society had two teams compete at the 2018 USRowing Youth National Championships in California.

Windermere-based Orlando Area Rowing Society had two teams compete at the 2018 USRowing Youth National Championships in June in California. The three-day event took place June 8 to 10 on Lake Natoma in Gold River.

The Men’s 8+ and the Women’s 4+ boats each placed second at the Southeast Regionals earlier this summer in Sarasota to earn a bid to attend Youth Nationals. 

In California, the Women’s 4+ boat placed 11th in the nation, and the Men’s 8+ boat placed 23 in the nation.

The women’s boat included Samantha Sizelove, Savannah Sellers, Destiny Scott, Meagan Goldsmith, Jessie Woy and Katie McMullen (alternate).

The men’s boat included Jared Eckwielen, Jack Kiely, Max Moltzan, Ryan McKinney, Nathan Kohl, Tim Miller, Valentine Lindsay, Andy Baker, Owen Villanueva and Cameron McElwee (alternate).
