Obituary: George C. Spigener Jr.

George C. Spigener Jr., 82, of Winter Garden, Florida, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at home.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, George attended both Virginia Military Institute and the University of Alabama, was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and served three years in the United States Marine Corps.

In 1970 he and his family moved to Winter Garden. For much of his life, George was an avid outdoorsman, pilot and boater and was involved in a variety of business interests.

He was predeceased by his parents, George Cooke Spigener Sr. and Elizabeth Smith Spigener.  He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Annette Randall Spigener; his daughter, Virginia; his son, George; and his three granddaughters, Annie Starr and Virginia Frances Teel and Charlotte Spigener.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Episcopal Church of the Messiah, 241 N. Main St., Winter Garden, FL 34787.
