Robert Edmund "Bob" Karney

Bob Karney, 78, of Winter Garden, Florida, joined his late wife, Annie Laura "Lollie" Karney, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. 

He was the son of the late Ivy Grace and Robert Alexander "R.A." Karney of Covington, Tennessee. 

Bob served in the U.S. Army for 24 years and retired a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in Vietnam in 1969 as a helicopter pilot. His post-Army career was with Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. 

Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden for 27 years. He also was a member of the United Methodist Men.

He was an Eagle Scout and a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts. He lived by the Scout Law and was responsible for rechartering Troop 210 in 1992, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden. In his Scouting career he received many awards, but his passion was mentoring scouts to reach their goal of obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Winter Garden.

His final resting place will be in the Memorial Gardens at First United Methodist Church in Winter Garden.

He is survived by his sister, Sandra Crosier, of Lubbock Texas; his three children, Stephen and wife Susan of Austin, Texas, Shannon Badgley of Sarasota, Florida, Michael and wife Brenda of Winter Garden, Forida; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
