Town staff, town commissioners, local and state officials and company representatives turn a load of dirt to signify the start of construction for the Arts & Heritage Center at Oakland.
The dirt has been turned, marking the start of construction on the new Arts & Heritage Center at Oakland, a 3,100-square-foot facility that will be dedicated to the town’s arts and history.
Work is slated to begin Nov. 26 on the building foundation. Public Works Director Mike Parker said construction of the building should be completed by May 31, 2019, and work on the internal exhibits will begin immediately afterward.
The town is collaborating with the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, which will provide logistical support with the historic preservation and will manage the capital campaign.
