West Orange Times: High 5 — June 27, 2019

1. In the Winter Garden Squeeze’s 11-2 loss to the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs Saturday, June 22, Marcus Judd and Wesley Faison led the way at the plate. Judd went 2-for-4 with an RBI and one walk, while Faison also went 2-for-4 with a walk. 

2. It was a big opening day for the Winter Garden Little League All-Star Minors team as they kicked off their district tournament Saturday, June 22. The Minors team started the morning with a 6-4 victory over Dr. Phillips Little League.

3. On Friday, June 21, multiple members of the West Orange High softball team were named to the 2019 Miracle Sports All-State 9A team. Lexi Scalzo and Cassie Rivard represented the Warriors on the first team, while Amanda Denis was named to the second team. Riley Fromberg was named honorable mention.

4. After multiple cancellations because of weather, the Winter Garden Little League 9U team took home the Florida District 14 Tournament of Champions title in a narrow 7-6 win Thursday, June 20.

5. Winter Garden Little League’s Majors All-Star team put on an offensive clinic on Saturday, June 22, in their 15-0 win over South Lake Little League in the District 14 tournament. Unfortunately for the home side, a 9-5 loss at the hands of Dr. Phillips in their second game of the day put an end to WGLL Majors’ All-Star season.
