SOUTHWEST ORANGE  Three Windermere-area schools have been placed on lockout due to ongoing police activity in the area, according to Orange County Public Schools.

Olympia High School, Windy Ridge K-8 and Chain of Lakes Middle School remain on lockout as of noon on Tuesday, March 26, officials said. During a lockout the building perimeter is secured, all outside doors are locked and students outside the building are brought inside. Lockouts occur when there is a threat or hazard outside the building. Classes remain in session.

Tony Marlow, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sector III captain, said that deputies are actively looking for a robbery suspect who fled from a car on the northeast corner of Apopka Vineland and Conroy Windermere roads.

Marlow said he believes deputies have the suspect confined in a wooded area near the intersection and are actively searching the area until they apprehend him.

Northbound Apopka Vineland Road has been shut down at Conroy Windermere Road, and southbound Apopka Vineland Road is shut down at Olympia High School.
