Windermere High School has a new principal in OCPS veteran Andrew Leftakis.

Leftakis has worked in the OCPS school system for the past 15 years — serving in a variety of roles like teacher, SAFE Coordinator, dean and assistant principal — and most recently spent the last five years serving as the principal at Maitland Middle School.

"My goal as principal is to provide all students with the academic supports necessary to be successful," Leftakis said in an introductory Facebook post. "I believe that all students can learn at high levels on their journey to graduation.

"Over the course of their time here, I recommend that students take rigorous classes, explore interests, take a music or art class, try out for a sports team, or join a new club," he said. "The more connections students make at WHS, the more likely they will be successful in their academic and social-emotional development."

Leftakis is married to Meredith Leftakis, and they have two children together — Holden, 8, and Ellie, 2. According to the introductory post, Leftakis describes himself as "an avid Florida State fan, (who) loves the outdoors," and is "also a huge star wars, Legend of Zelda, and anime dork."
