Southeastern Food Bank is prepared to feed 1,200 needy families in West Orange County Saturday, March 26, in the Feeding Families/Feeding Friends food distribution program. Distribution takes place from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at West Orlando Baptist Church, 1006 E. Crown Point Road, Ocoee.

SFB and volunteers spent three weeks of sorting and packing more than a semi-trailer of 61,000 pounds of food at the warehouse in Ocoee. The 1,260 banana boxes full of food, along with additional items, will go to needy homes in West Orange County.

This three-times-per-year food giveaway in the spring and at Thanksgiving and Christmas has provided food to impoverished families for about 30 years. However, the spring event was changed to a combination drive-thru for people who need food and volunteers delivering to predesignated homes of needy families.

This is the former Food for Families food distribution program.
