The town of Oakland is a Tree City USA, so it’s only fitting that it opens an art exhibition called “Among the Oaks” and centered around a tree theme.
The Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center at the Town of Oakland invites adult and youth artists to submit 2D art of all media types, including photography, of trees of all shapes and sizes, in all environments.
The deadline to submit artwork is Monday, Oct. 31. If artwork is accepted, the drop-off will be between Nov. 8 and 10.
Exhibition will be on display starting Nov. 11 and running through Jan. 6 at the arts and heritage center, 126 W. Petris Ave. An open house/Meet the Artists event will be held during the town’s Santa's Lane community event Dec. 3.
Submit the following information to arts&[email protected] for each piece: Artist name and contact information, title, medium, size, sale price, and photo.
A QR code will be placed next to the artwork if it is for sale. This will link to the artist’s website or other method of sale. When a piece is sold while on exhibit, the artist will receive 100% of the sale but must agree to keep it on display until the exhibition ends.
All 2D artwork must be able to be hung on the wall with the town’s gallery hook system. Photography and other mediums also are encouraged.
The artists are responsible for insuring their artwork. Email the art and heritage center with questions.
