Central Florida Christian Academy welcomes new girls basketball coach

Tommie Butts will also serve the Eagles as a sixth grade teacher.

Central Florida Christian Academy recently announced their new girls head basketball coach — south Florida native Tommie Butts. 

Butts has been named Metro Conference Coach of the Year five times; in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019; and has been named State of Florida coach of the Year twice — in 2014 and 2019. Dairy Farms State of Florida named him 7A Coach of the Year in 2014 and 9A Coach of the Year in 2019. 

According to a press release, Butts has won a state championship on three levels: once as a high school player at Blanche Ely High School in 1993, once as an assistant coach at Dr. Phillips High School in 2012 and three times as head coach at Wekiva High School in 2014, 2015 and 2019. 

Butts official start date with the Eagles was Friday, Sept. 9. His wife, Alex Butts, will serve as an aide position.  The couple has three children; Jaylen, Jordan and Shyanne. All three will be attending CFCA.
