Foundation Academy softball to play for regional championship title

After defeating Cornerstone Charter Academy 7-5 Tuesday, May 16, during the regional semifinals, the Lady Lions have gotten further than any other softball team in Lion Nation history.

The Foundation Academy varsity softball team made history Tuesday, May 16, after defeating Cornerstone Charter Academy 7-5 in the regional semifinal game — in extra innings — to advance to the regional championship game. 

Freshman Kena Terry led the Lady Lions in the offense with a .750 batting average connecting one hit and two doubles during the game while propelling two RBIs. 

On the pitching mound, freshman Reagan Schirmer pitched five innings, allowing seven hits, giving out five runs while striking out one. Freshman Riley Winters came in from the bullpen to pitch at the bottom of the sixth inning and pitched the last three innings allowing one hit and no runs while walking two and striking out six. 

Foundation is getting ready to face Orlando Christian Prep from the opposite side of the diamond at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, to battle for the regional championship title.
