A 41-year-old Winter Garden man was found dead in a 2023 Tesla Model Y after it became airborne while speeding southbound on Tiny Road, north of Green Orchard Ave. in Horizon West, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Tesla traveled off the roadway and struck a fence, before entering a field, hitting a tree and finally coming to a stop in this single-vehicle incident.

Although the driver, who was found wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene, the matter of when he died or when the crash occurred remains under investigation by the highway patrol.

Despite law enforcement being alerted to the incident at 7:19 a.m. on Jan. 16, 2024, the press release mentions that a resident of the area said, "They believe they may have heard the crash last night at approximately 10 p.m."

For those traveling down Tiny Road near Green Orchard Ave. be aware that there are currently roadblocks set up for vehicles traveling in both directions.
