West Orange High to present 'Newsies'

Performances will take place from Thursday, April 30, to Sunday, May 3, at 1625 Beulah Road, Winter Garden.

The West Orange Theatre Department is getting ready to host "Disney's Newsies the Musical."

Inspired by the true story of the 1899 Newsboys' strike and based on the 1992 "Newsies" musical, "Disney's Newsies the Musical," follows Jack Kelly and a group of newspaper sellers who form a union and go on strike for fair treatment. 

"With energy, humor, and heart, the story celebrates friendship, courage and the belief that young voices can make a difference," West Orange Theatre Department posted. "Filled with high‑energy songs and uplifting moments, "Newsies" is an exciting, family‑friendly musical about teamwork, resilience and standing up for what’s right."

Performances will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, to Saturday, May 2, and from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at West Orange High School, 1625 Beulah Road, Winter Garden.
