West Orange Foundation partners with OCPS for Back to School Bash

The goal is to collect 300 backpacks before the school year begins.

The West Orange Foundation is asking the community for help.

After partnering with Orange County Public Schools for its Back to School Bash, the foundation now is asking residents to donate backpacks.

"Here's the challenge: while we've received some wonderful school supplies, we haven't received any backpacks yet -- and hundreds of students are counting on our community to step up," the foundation posted. "...Let's show our students what the West Orange community is all about."

The goal is to collect 300 backpacks before the school year begins, so students can start school feeling prepared and confident.

Supplies can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the West Orange Chamber of Commerce.

The final day of collection Monday, Aug. 3.
