Winter Garden Farmers Market ranked first in American Farmland Trust’s Farmers Market Celebration

The Winter Garden Farmers Market is currently ranked No. 1 nationwide for People’s Choice in the American Farmland Trust’s Farmers Market Celebration.

The celebration, which runs June 20-Sept. 21, seeks to raise awareness about shopping at farmers markets and supporting family farmers. 

As part of the celebration, people around the nation are encouraged to go to the celebration’s website and review their local farmers markets. Farmers markets are included in the list if they are on the USDA’s list of farmers markets. 

Fans of the market can make their recommendations through Sept. 21. As part of the recommendation, voters submit feedback on how the market excels in different areas: being a pillar of the community, offering healthy food for all, focusing on farmers and championing the environment. 

At the end of the competition, markets that place in the top 50 nationally or top 5 in their states get a certificate, American Farmland Trust flag and badges honoring the market’s performance.
