WINTER GARDEN  Next time you drive by Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves, you may see a growing flock of pink flamingos — don’t worry, they are there for a good cause.

Florida Hospital Winter Garden and WGV are using the pink flamingos as part of their monthlong “GO PINK” partnership, which aims to help “bring awareness to women's health and the early detection of breast cancer,” a Facebook post from WGV read.

The PINK OUT flamingos are being sold at Planet Smoothie, Polka Dotz Chic and VOM FASS Winter Garden in WGV for $10 each. For every flamingo sold, the buyer will be given a flamingo for their yard and another will be added to WGV’s flock.

All funds raise will go toward the Florida Hospital Breast Cancer Care Fund to support women in Central Florida who otherwise couldn’t afford a mammogram or diagnostic testing. Florida Hospital is encouraging the community to get involved on social media, as well, by using the hashtags “#JoinTheFlock” and “#PinkOut.”

Additionally, Florida Hospital for Women Mobile Wellness and FRi - Diagnostic Imaging will offer a day of screening mammograms at WGV Friday, Sept. 30. Women can come get mammograms between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. near Polka Dotz and Planet Smoothie. No prescription is required and most insurance plans will be accepted.
