ORANGE COUNTY On Saturday morning, a police escort will lead a horde of motorcycles down the roads in Sanford for the Wounded Officers Initiative’s second annual I CAARE For Law Enforcement Ride.
WOI will collaborate with the Windermere Police Foundation and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 93 to put on the event, which is based at Seminole Harley Davidson. People will participate in the motorcycle ride in support of American law enforcement.
The event begins with a breakfast at 9 a.m. The ride itself will kick off at 10:30 a.m. and circle back to Seminole Harley Davidson by 11:30 a.m., where participants can enjoy food and live music until 2 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will benefit programs of WOI, Windermere Police Foundation and the FOP 93 Foundation.
“‘CAARE’ is the acronym of the five goals of the Wounded Officers Initiative, of Counseling, Advocacy, Awareness, Recognition and Education,” a Facebook post from Windermere Police Chief David Ogden read.
Participants can pre-register for the event through Friday, Sept. 30, for $30 for a single rider, $40 for a rider and passenger or $100 for VIP, which includes registration for a passenger, a front position in the ride and a Wounded Officers Initiative patch.
On the day of the ride, registration costs $35 for a single rider or $50 for a rider and passenger. Those who pre-registers can check in and submit the completed Riders Waiver Form online.
