If you aren’t sure what to do this weekend, maybe one of these artsy events is for you!

 

1. THE JIM YOUNG JAZZ PROJECT IN WOOFSTOCK CONCERT

6 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Yellow Dog Eats, 1236 Hempel Ave., Gotha. Enjoy the sounds of the band in this concert series at the restaurant.

2. PRINCESS TEA

11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at The Attic Door, 28 W. Plant St., Winter Garden.

An afternoon tea experience with some special friends. Crowns and tiaras are acceptable.

3. TAKE PART FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 4851 S. Apopka-Vineland Road, Orlando.

Enjoy an evening of creative workshops, including dancing, paper crafting, theater set building and painting with spices for adults. Children’s workshops include drawing, creative movement, video and media. Attendees can make take-home art and stroll through a gallery of artwork from local artists. Event is free.

 

4. AN AFTERNOON WITH BRIAN WHITING

2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the West Oaks Library, 1821 E. Silver Star Road, Ocoee.

Meet local author Brian Whiting as he discusses three books in his new science-fiction and fantasy series: “Galactic Startup,” “Neighbors” and “Shadows.” The stories feature Alex and his three friends, their ability to travel into space and, possibly, the galactic consequences of their discovery.

Community Editor Amy Quesinberry was born at the old West Orange Memorial Hospital and raised in Winter Garden. Aside from earning her journalism degree from the University of Georgia, she hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown and her three-mile bubble.
