“POWER, MYTH AND MEMORY IN AFRICANA ART”

7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Crealdé School of Art, 600 St. Andrews Blvd., Winter Park.

The exhibit commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 1920 Ocoee Massacre, joining other Central Florida organizations in looking back at local history and examining how it affected the community in the century that followed. Art pieces have been selected from the C.J. Williams collection. The private collection includes many 2D and 3D pieces never before seen by the public.

Aspiring writers ages 11 to 18 can meet “New York Times” best-selling author Nic Stone as she presents this special writing workshop with tips to improve writing.

Discover theater in a whole new way through this unique, interactive workshop. Participants will receive a voucher to attend an upcoming performance of “Anne of Green Gables” at Orlando Repertory Theatre.

Community Editor Amy Quesinberry was born at the old West Orange Memorial Hospital and raised in Winter Garden. Aside from earning her journalism degree from the University of Georgia, she hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown and her three-mile bubble.
