Five runs and a solid outing from junior Luke Muller on the mound was enough to give Legacy Charter a 5-2 win over Foundation Academy on a cloudy Friday night.
Foundation (10-9) started off the scoring with two runs in the top of the second — Kyle Marquert scored on a ground out, while Logan Zack brought in Luke Ranaudo on an RBI single. But after Legacy starter Tate Maroth was pulled after one-and-two-thirds innings and replaced with Luke Miller, the Lions wouldn't find pay dirt again.
Muller would finish the game giving up only two hits and one walk, while striking out four in 5.1 innings of work — picking up the win in the process.
For Legacy (14-7), despite racking up 11 hits through seven inning of play, the entirety of the Eagles' scoring came in the second and third innings. In the second the Eagles scored two runs off of errors to tie the game, before an RBI double from Julian Arana scored Colby McClure to give the home side a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the third the Eagles would tack on their last two runs on RBI singles by Muller and Noah Rittenberry — extending the Eagles' lead to 5-2.
Next up for the Eagles is a home matchup against Orlando Christian Prep on Monday, April 19, while the Lions travel to Brooksville to take on Hernando Christian Academy (also on Monday).
