A man was arrested after breaking into multiple Rialto apartments Thursday, April 16.
According to the arrest affidavit, Israel Jacobowitz, 31, broke into the Rialto Apartments, located in Dr. Phillips, and stole a variety of valuables from multiple apartments.
The Rialto was evacuated March 19 due to structural instability, and has since been vacant.
On Thursday, April 2, the Orange County Division of Building Safety deemed the apartments unsafe for human occupancy, making it unlawful for any unauthorized personnel to occupy the building.
According to the affidavit, Jacobowitz entered the apartments around 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, and presided in the building until the morning, when he was confronted by Building Manager Eric Roberts.
According to Roberts, he received multiple calls from tenants regarding video footage captured by Ring cameras of Jacobowitz entering apartments or attempting to do so.
Officers arrived on scene and arrested Jacobowitz with no incidents.
After a body search was conducted, officers found four credit cards belonging to a tenant under Jacobowitz's possession.
Other belongings taken from different apartments were found inside the same tenant's apartment, where Jacobowitz seemed to be residing.
He now is in the Orange County Jail, with a bond set at $42,000.
He faces seven different charges: burglary of dwelling, attempted burglary of dwelling, possession of burglary tools, trespass in structure, grand theft in the third degree, petit theft and criminal mischief.
