Dr. Phillips, Windermere fall in girls soccer regional playoffs | Observer Preps

The Panthers and Wolverines both were defeated Feb. 6 in the regional quarterfinals of the Class 5A and Class 4A Playoffs, respectively.

Girls soccer season came to a close Feb. 6 for the coverage areas of the West Orange Times & Observer and Windermere Observer with the losses of Dr. Phillips and Windermere in their respective regional quarterfinal matches.

The Panthers were defeated 5-0 in the FHSAA Class 5A, Region 1 Quarterfinals by nationally-ranked Oviedo. The match marked 19 consecutive shutouts for Oviedo, which has won consecutive state championships in Class 5A.

Dr. Phillips ends the 2017-18 season — during which it set a program record for wins — with a record of 17-3-1.

First-year Windermere played the program's first playoff game in the FHSAA Class 4A, Region 2 Quarterfinals at Melbourne High and fell 4-0.

Melbourne is 14-2-1 and was a regional finalist in Class 4A in 2016-17.

The loss ends the Wolverines' inaugural season with a record of 13-5-1.
