A popular business in downtown Winter Garden is moving to The Milk District.

Main House Market's last day in the area was Saturday, May 27.

The organization took to social media Friday, May 19, to announce the news of its new home.

The new space is in the former Market on South at 2603 E. South Street and was the original home of both Dixie Dharma and Valhalla Bakery.

Brandon Wood, the owner of MHM, was born and raised in Winter Garden. He is a sixth-generation Winter Garden resident and-fourth generation business owner.

Although he said he never thought he would open his business in Winter Garden, he felt it was fate when the spot became available. MHM opened July 31, 2021, at 108 S. Main St.

Wood's decision to move comes following his decision to bring events such as burlesque shows and drag queen bingo to MHM because he wanted to provide an all-inclusive and safe environment in Winter Garden.

MHM set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the cost of moving to a different location.

"Many of you have asked us how you can help and how we can fight together but in the end the best thing for us to do is move to an amazing location where the store can thrive and grow all the while giving back to the community in creating that all inclusive safe space," Wood wrote on the GoFundMe. "With that said, we are so excited for this next chapter and more importantly the growth of our business."

As a business, Wood said he wants to thank everyone in the community who has reached out with their kind words and willingness to want to help MHM succeed.

"We do hope the same targeting and discrimination will never happen to another business entering the Winter Garden area," Wood wrote. "I will be sad to leave my hometown and the community that welcomed us."

The new location is expected to host a soft opening Thursday, June 8.
