Beginning at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, the recently formed Horizon West American Legion Post 419 along with partners Home State Brewing Co. will host a brand new event to pay tribute to the brave veterans who have served this country called the Veterans Day Walk/Ruck.

Though the event is free, you will be able to buy tickets for Post 419’s fundraising raffle at the walk — winners will be drawn at the next monthly meeting of the post — with the funds raised going toward to the American Legion’s efforts to provide youth and community programs, as well as to assist our Horizon West veterans.

The event is open to anyone, veterans and civilians alike, regardless of whether you want to participate or just show appreciation to servicemen and women.

Veterans are encouraged to represent their branch, tie up their boots, and bring your ruck and flags.

The walk will start at Home State Brewing Co. at 11:11 a.m. and head to Bass Park, before returning to the brewery.

Those not participating in the walk can gather at Home State and cheer on your friends, family, and neighbors as they complete the event.

You can learn more about the event here on the Facebook event page, and more about the Horizon West American Legion Post 419 on the group's Facebook page.
