Baseball players across the country sat and awaited for their names to be called in the 2026 MLB Draft Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12. Of those thousands of players, two Windermere High School alumni were selected.

Class of 2024 outfielder Ty Head was selected by the Orioles as the No. 46 overall pick in the second round of the draft. When Head graduated, he was projected to be a contender for the MLB, but rather he attended NC State for two seasons. He became NC State's 12th highest MLB pick.

Class of 2022 outfielder Blake Cyr was selected by the New York Yankees in the 18th round. Cyr played four seasons at the University of Florida, being named on the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings Second Team Southeast All-Region, 2023 Consensus Freshman All-American, 2023 All-ACC Freshman Team and 2023 All-ACC Academic Team.
