The Independence Village in Horizon West kicked off the Fourth of July celebrations with its annual fireworks event.
Dancers were on stage handing out glow sticks and other goodies.
People lined the sides of the waterway saving their spots for the fireworks show.
The Independence community was decked out in patriotic spirit for its annual Independence Firework Spectacular.
Dalete Machado was decked out in red, white and blue.
She wore a white shirt, with red, white and blue skirt accompanied by American flag socks. Her headband had pins of stars, American flags and other patriotic charms.
To complete her patriotic outfit, Machado tied an American flag around her like a cape.
She beamed American pride for the Independence Firework Spectacular Saturday, June 28, at the Commons at Independence.
Machado and her children, 9-year-old Dominic Machado and 7-year-old Alexia Machado, went around the Independence community festivities enjoying various activities, including rock climbing, trampoline jumping, bubble machine, inflatables and food trucks.
Machado said the event was beautiful.
Hundreds of people lined the waterway leading up to the stage to pick out a spot for fireworks.
Rocio Labrada found the perfect spot to watch the fireworks with her friends Glandys Duarte, Marjorie Tremont and Samantha Glas.
"It's a wonderful," Labrada said of the event. "It's a great time for friends, family and all the kids to get together."
The night ended with a bang as fireworks lit up the night sky.
