The students at Castleview Elementary celebrated the dedication of their school on Thursday, Nov. 14, with a ceremony focused around the traits embodied by the school's four houses, chivalry, loyalty, wisdom and valor. Student "house leaders" put items into a dragon egg-shaped time capsule and greeted guests while wearing capes and crowns. The school's Dragon Scales musical group both sang and played the drums. Students heard words to remember from Principal Julie Helton, School Board Chair Teresa Jacobs, School Board Vice Chair Pam Gould and Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins. Jacobs asked the students to sing "Happy Birthday" to the school district, which is 150 years old this year. Gould told students she is thankful for them and their beautiful new school. Jenkins gave Principal Helton a gold key after the students promised to take care of their school, respect adults and work hard through high-school graduation and beyond.
